30 Amazing Educational Gifts for Toddlers & Preschoolers

As you may know, our granddaughter, Maggie, is currently in therapy.  She has scripts for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy.  As we were stuck in the insurance/red-tape zone for a time, waiting on getting her into the proper therapists, I began working on weekday home therapy with our Maggie-Pie.  Poppy Randy built her some items with PVC, which you can check out on a prior post here, and I began looking for appropriate toys and tools to help in other ways.

Now that we are in semi-weekly therapy appointments, we have even more suggestions for her everyday care (thanks to Miss Lainey!).  Following is a list of some teaching toys that we use or have used in her PT, OT and Speech Therapies either here, at home, or in the office, along with some other educational, skill-building options.

These are not exclusive to kids who need therapy; these quality items are perfect for helping any child to learn and grow as they play and have fun!  Some are classics (Mr. Potato Head!) and some are newer (Hungry Caterpillar audiobook!).

If you’re wondering what to buy that sweet little toddler in your life, and the toy box is filled with too many electronic beeps, chirps and techie sounds, here are some perfect additions to the toy collection!

You are right, most kids don’t know. It was one of my childhood favorites, and it’s good for building strength in little fingers 🙂 Thanks for reading, Audrey!

Toys are really important for kids. And using them for learning and teaching them various motor skills is like cherry on the cake.

This is amazing! i totally agree that toys should be educational. Kids don’t realize that they are learning as they play, they just have fun! Books and art projects are more favorite gifts of mine (when giving to kids!)
